Description

Come Together: Music Festival and Label Market offers live performances, films, workshops, and panels that celebrate the interactive ecosystem of local and international music communities, and a label fair where visitors can explore some of the most interesting, cutting-edge music being released today.

While the very fabric of music culture has been stretched—maybe shredded—by fast-changing digital platforms, the central and essential role that communities play in both the creation and consumption of new sounds remains unchanged. When the iconic NYC record shop Other Music closed last summer, there was an overwhelming outpouring of love and emotion from artists, fans, and the industry over the loss of not just a store, but a meeting place, incubator, and community space for forward-thinking art. With Come Together, Other Music and MoMA PS1 recast the fading record store experience for the modern era.

MoMA PS1 champions how art and artists are at the intersection of the social, cultural, and political issues of their time. Founded in 1976 by Alanna Heiss, the institution was a defining force in the alternative space movement in New York City, transforming a nineteenth century public schoolhouse in Long Island City into a site for artistic experimentation and creativity.
